Last Poppy of 2013

And with this piece I say goodbye to 2013 with the new photo shoot scheduled for tomorrow (January 1). I am particularly excited about the piece to be featured next as it is a first for me of it's kind. Hope to have a reveal ready by the end of the week. Until then, stay safe, happy and healthy.

Milk Paint - Mustard Yellow Tallboy Dresser

This beautiful dresser painted in mustard yellow milk paint did not wait long to find it's way to a new home. The shape, the colour and the mix and match of old and new hardware made it a winning combination. Fun fact about milk paint is that once the piece is painted the paint itself does all the distressing. My input in achieving this aged look was minimal. I only removed the paint flakes that were forming by themselves in spots where paint did not "want" to adhere to the surface.
I have a few other milk paint projects on the go that I hope to be able to reveal early in the new year.

Two New Pieces and a Sneak Preview

Both of these pieces were finished in early December, but with all the pre-Holiday activities i did not get the chance to post them. Here they are now, fresh and ready to find a new home.

And for the sneak preview portion of this post I am sharing the following…
expect to see full on beauty shots of this little gem by Monday.
Cheers!

New Poppy - Pale Turquoise Dresser

This dresser was a love at first sight, even though it's exterior looked rather shabby. Apart from the less than perfect exterior, all its drawers were in perfect shape and I knew that a bit of work would make a world of difference. I have decided to keep original hardware on the side drawers and to paint them out the same colour as the dresser. Yellow knobs on the middle drawers are adding a colourful and playful punch to the piece. This dresser is now listed on my Etsy page.
Have a great day everyone.

Desk with Colourful Top

Seemingly main stream and tame desk has a little secret - its colour blocked top is all the rage. Body of this desk has been painted Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue and the top features triangles in complementing but also contrasting colours.
It is currently available for Sale at Freedom Clothing Collective (939 Bloor Street West) in Toronto as well as on my Etsy page.

Yard in November

This is what the yard looks like at the moment, frost bitten hosta leaves have been trimmed down and all of a sudden the yard looks so much larger. BBQ, umbrella and patio chairs are now in the shed and will remain there until next year.

White China Cabinet with Floral Interior

This hutch was in a fairly sad state when I first saw it. The veneer on the bottom set of doors was flaking and to the majority of people it did not give confidence that anything good could ever come out of it. I knew what needed to be done to turn this ugly duckling into a charming piece of furniture. You can see this piece in person at Freedom Clothing Collective at 939 Bloor Street West in Toronto. It is also listed in my Etsy store.

Coffee Table With a Painted Runner

Here is a little something I have been experimenting with yesterday and to be honest, I am quite thrilled with the outcome. I started off with a pretty ordinary, but super sturdy, coffee table and turned it into a vintage meets modern piece of furniture.
Apologies for the photography quality and the lack of staging. I was just too thrilled a out it and had to share it as soon as possible.

Sneak Preview of the Latest Poppy

Before Shot - good bones and that's about it

Step 1 - measure carefully and tape off the triangles

First half painted out

Final colour pallet

Some touch-ups are still needed to the top, but I am quite happy with the outcome.
It may take a few days before it is 100% finished and ready for its glam shot.
